What’s your burnout archetype?
Sister, my story is hard. Hard to share & harder to have lived.
My story is one of caution. From one woman to another.
Caution. Beware. Stop now and you can still turn this around kind of a story.
As an indigenous Hawaiian recently transplanted to California I know first
hand what it’s like to be a highly-driven & an over-achieving Type A personality.
Going from Plant Operator at a Chevron Refinery on the Hawaiian Islands to Relief Head Operator & Learning And Development Specialist over 20 years I commanded my space managing multi-million dollar projects while my children were young.

Women looked up to me as an industry changer.
Sunday mornings, you know it, there we were in our Sunday best, with me serving 6 hours in Children’s Church with that fake, church-y smile.
(you know, the one that says EVERYTHING’S FINE while on the inside its anything but.)
What everyone sees on the outside: success, promotions, and the accolades isn’t what our friends & family sees.
THERE WAS SO MUCH MORE THAT I WAS FIGHTING BENEATH THE SURFACE
With all of that working, volunteering, serving, striving…
I was driven to prove something.
To find proof that I was good enough.
That I was worth it.
My whole life was driven by a desire to be seen and appreciated while at the same time being driven to be so successful that no one would ever be able to ignore me again.
So much so that I nearly drove myself into the grave trying to prove myself by working 70+ hour work weeks and landing myself in the doctor’s office with full-blown adrenal burnout.
That day my doctor looked up from reading my lab results and said, “I don’t even know how you walked into my office today. People with these numbers are usually bed-ridden and unable to function.”
But somehow, I was able to pull it off. Just like I did in every other area of my life.
If only by the grace of God and sheer willpower.
You see, I was a fighter all my life.
And I fought against receiving God’s Love, despite growing up in church my whole life.
I would continually battle thoughts like…
“He can’t love me because my parents weren’t there for me.”
I grew up with a dad who was a workaholic, an excellent provider, but I never saw him.
And my mom was a total perfectionist, nothing was every out of place in the house. EVER! You could walk around blindfolded and never trip over a darn thing.
So, why would God, who is absolutely perfect and the busiest of the busiest (I mean, he is the Creator of the Universe after all) want to stop being everything to everyone and spend time with little ole me when no one on earth ever did, unless I was doing something for them?
Sometimes we strive so hard not to become the parents we resent that we end up living a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- My husband wondering why I was *still* checking email on my phone during dinner.
- My daughter accusing me of *never being there for her” (just like my own parents).
- My son, without a mom’s nurturing influence getting involved in addictive behaviors to numb the pain.
I WAS SO BUSY BUILDING MY CAREER THAT I FORGOT TO BUILD A LIFE
This is a word of caution to my like-minded Christian female entrepreneurs and industry leaders.
- Are you so driven that your husband is telling you to put down your phone at dinner?
- Are you so busy finishing one more project that your kids don’t believe you anymore?
- Are you so overloaded right now that you’ve had brunch dates with friends and canceled more than once?
Sis, this is not God’s Will For Us As Moms, Wives & Entrepreneurs
You CAN build a 6 or 7 figure business without sacrificing ourselves, our voice, or our families. Together we can clear out the toxic thoughts & life patterns so that you can own your boldness, forgive, and be forgiven.
Claim back your life & your business
Most high-achieving industry leaders who hit a plateau, or who feel less-than-excited about their work, or who are scared to show the world that they’re “slipping” (though we’ll never say that out loud), are being driven by the fear of failure that will negatively impact our ability to scale our business.
It’s a fear that needs to be dealt with, and girl, God didn’t give you the spirit of fear (can I get an amen?)
Because even when we add in the systems & automations, unless we deal with the head trash, we’ll end up with burnout and regrets we can’t change.
If you’ve got the systems in place or hired a team member but still missing out on life, girl, we need to talk.
This is where you heal.
- Heal so you can be a better mother or wife.
- Heal because it’s His plan for you.
- Heal so that you can find your voice & live without regret.
